Harv, on the other hand, is a child of the Great Depression who learned a hard lesson about doing without life's basics, much less splurging on every newfangled technology that commerce introduced. Harv cannot appreciate the extent to which Matt's life is wholly immersed within the technology offered by modern-day society, while Matt scoffs at Harv's stubborn refusal to venture forth into what he considers to be the fascinating world of high tech. world of high tech. Indicative of two generations that look upon each other as being completely out of touch with reality, both Matt and Harv have little understanding of the
needs reflected by the others generation. Matt, whose entire life is built around technological advancements of the late twentieth century, has absolutely no concept about why anyone would choose
to have an analog watch over a digitized one; nor does he comprehend how students ever approached mathematics without the aid of a calculator. Indeed, Matts life experiences have
been wholly immersed within the relatively new aspect of technology and the role it plays in the lives of contemporary society, leaving him with little respect for or understanding of
any other generation that did not share in the same advancements. Harv just thinks Matt is a spoiled and unappreciative Infochild who has no gratitude for the struggles he
faced in order to make Matts life more comfortable. Another area of communication breakdown between Matt and Harv is Matts irreverence toward the elderly. Rather than respect the man
