Blue Man Group According to Avins (2001), Blue Man Group started as guerilla-theater on the sidewalks of New York about 13 years ago. Today Blue Man Group Productions is a thriving theatrical organization with a staff of over 450; companies performing in New York, Boston, Chicago, and Las Vegas, and an annual operating budget of over $ 25 million. Who and what is Blue Man? Actually "he" is three performers. The founders decided, that, " three puts you where community and isolation meet." Yet Blue Man doesnt talk, sing or dance, according to one of the creators, Blue Mans "role" was to "challenge the audience to accept that art isnt necessarily elitist, humor doesnt have to be verbal, music need not be melodic, and entertainment can be non-linear."
