The product is designed to be highly differentiated in terms of the delivery of an integrated services that empowers the customers and can compete with products such as Sky+ and the on demand NTL that are also trying to give more control to the customers. NTL and Telewest are merging, and along with Sky these are the main competitors, but in each case there has been a focus on one area of this product mix, this service seeks to giant the economies of scope as well as scale as it grows and to offer the view of an integrated service not offering only a single product that is then built on with related or diversified sales. If we look at the services in more detail we can understand what Homechoice is offering. There has been increased interest in digital television, for both the choice it is offering and also the associated quality compared to analogue television. Digital television being offered by Homechoice offers a choice of more than 100 channels including radio channels, with 60 of these being television channels (Homechoice, 2005). This means that the company is able to compete with not only the free to air digital television, but cable and satellite networks. Video on demand is a system, that is sorting the television programmes and then allows the customer to watch them when they want to rather than according to a television schedule or having to recorded them on a video, DVD, tivo or other box with a hard drive.
