of this change can be attributed to globalization. Indeed, it could be contended that globalization is a phenomena which is shaping the world more so than any other factor in history. It is a phenomena which is occurring primarily through the many advances in technology which we have experienced during this century. We have come to accept the fact that technology affects all aspects of society. Technology has one of its greatest impacts on business and the global economy. Not only are new technologies creating new opportunities in marketing and increased sales potentials, they are breaking down barriers and creating opportunities which have never been available before. While some aspects of globalization are positive, however, many others are negative. To decide whether globalization is a positive or a negative phenomenon we must carefully balance out each of its impacts. One of the most obvious impacts of globalization is that the world has become a much smaller place. The business contact between our nations is increasing in part due to factors such as mass media and mass transit. The concept of globalization sometimes approaches this change as being one which either should or will result in a complete homogenization of culture and the formation of a unified global community. At the very least globalization will result in a number of distinct border cultures which are hybridizations of interacting cultures. Businesses compete equally for the attentions of technologically advanced nations and third world nations as well.
