struggling to find identity in a society that is changing, and has changed, drastically. The following paper compares and contrasts ideas presented in three different essays. The essays discussed are Daphne Pains "Spatial Segregation and Gender Stratification in the Workplace,".Holly Devors "Gender Role Behaviors and Attitudes," and.Mariah Burton Nelsons "I Won. Im Sorry." Gender Essays Daphne Pains "Spatial Segregation and Gender Stratification in the Workplace"- In this particular essay the author informs us how men and women will often have different types of working environments in the workplace. A woman will generally be confined to a workspace that is shared with many other women, while man is more likely to have private space with a door. This seems to be directly linked to the professions that men and women are employed within. In an office setting women will be the secretaries and are expected to keep any information or knowledge they have secret. They are not expected to be knowledgeable, and if they are they are required not to share that information with anyone. A man, on the other hand, is expected to possess knowledge and to demonstrate that. Men and women are not to really corroborate with one another and are clearly divided into their jobs, their roles, their tasks. Now, while not all work spaces are divided in this manner, the case in reality is that men and women are likely to be in different places, with different jobs, and with women possessing less knowledge than men, and men possessing more privacy in the workplace.
