II. HER RISE TO POWER Evita, born May 7, 1919 in the Buenos Aires village of Los Toldos, was the youngest of five children born to a poor village landowner. After her father died during her childhood, Evitas mother moved the children to Junin and established a boarding house. When she was old enough to venture out on her own, Evita - whose beauty helped open many a door of opportunity - sought an acting career in Buenos Aires.
