From books that discuss cleansing benefits and techniques, to low carbohydrate diet books, there are many different books and many different approaches one could take in seeking better health. One book is Elson Haas Staying Healthy with the Seasons. The following paper offers a report on the book. Elson Haas Staying Healthy with the Seasons In the beginning of the book, in the introduction, the author illustrates how, as a doctor, he was often baffled with the ongoing conditions that people seemed to suffer from, finding no real problems and telling them, "Well, everything seems to be fine" (Haas 1) The author then began to examine other possibilities, such as lifestyles and stress, which are often not really taken into consideration when making diagnoses. AS such the author began to look elsewhere, combining his knowledge of medicine with other possibilities, as primarily perhaps seen through many ancient belief systems, ancient practices, and a more holistic approach to the body. The author notes, "In this book, I explain many approaches and specific advice to clear the body of its problems and ways to open up and pursue health" (Haas2). This book takes the reader through various seasons, and associates the healthy of a body as it is connected to particular seasons and organs, utilizing an Eastern approach to the need for health. For example, in the section on spring the author speaks a great deal about the liver and the Wood in the body.
