iBooks, 100 PDAs and eight color laser printers. Those Gone Before Theoretically there should be no specific limit as to the number of
wireless notebooks that one wireless router could supply with Internet and printer access, but in practice such is not the case. The limiting factor is the computers need to
communicate outwardly. An Australian high school explains that it uses one Apple AirPort wireless router for every two iBooks in use (We Work Cross Platform!, 2005), and this project
will follow that pattern. This arrangement also will provide support for the eight printers that will be added to the current system. Hardware
Required The school will need to purchase all of the required hardware. If the current environment does not include at least one
server, then servers will need to be added as well. Certainly 220 isolated iBooks can be useful, but the school also needs the ability to expand at a later
time while currently gaining the greatest utility from the hardware it has and is about to acquire. The Mac OS X Server v10.3
has been chosen because it includes an unlimited client license. At $999, it is more cost effective than Apples comparable server that at $499 includes license for a maximum
of 10 clients. Apple is known for its educational discounts; the school may be able to secure a lower price for the servers.
