approaches in processing, crime scene protocol almost always involves first securing the scene, interviewing subjects, examining the details,
photographically documenting the scene, sketching the scene, and the careful collection and processing of evidence. The value of DNA evidence in particular is emphasized. Bibliography lists two sources.

Securing the scene from outside entry and taking measures to insure that the perpetrator is no longer present on the scene not only
insure safety but also insures that evidence is not destroyed, modified, or otherwise tampered with. A scene perimeter is established and taped to provide a visible boundary which cannot
be crossed except by authorized individuals. Witnesses are identified and, if possible, isolated until they can be interviewed. A crime scene log is started and this is used
to record entry and exit from the site by all authorized personnel as well as to record other important information about the scene. The perimeter of a site is
typically accomplished by officers on the scene but crime scene technicians should affirm that the scene has indeed been secured. Next,
