The purpose here is to review some of the information that has been discovered, particularly that regarding climate change and its effects in the Crawford Lake area. Climate Change Climate change is a topic of immense importance to todays society. As greenhouse gases proliferate, projection is that they will (have) interfere with energy exchange between layers the earths atmosphere, trapping both the gases and excess heat at or near ground level. Changes in average temperature that quantitatively appear to be relatively minor can have a dramatic effect on the earth, particularly on all coastal areas where water levels can be expected to rise due to deglaciation. This in turn will affect the water cycle of the entire earth; ultimate consequences on human and animal populations are the focus of most of the debates on the matter. Study of areas such as Crawford Lake, Ontario provide rationale of why we should be concerned with the size of the footprint we leave on the earth that will cause its water cycle to change in any way. Natural systems have had the same effect, and we have no control over them. The point is that we will need to control our own behavior in the event that abrupt climate change occurs again within natural systems.
