The Christians of the nation claim that homosexuality is perhaps one of the most evil acts one could engage in, and yet they do not stop and examine the history
of their religion, or the history of Christianity as it involves homosexuality in the past. They refuse to allow homosexuals in their churches and refuse them the right to get
married while clearly remaining ignorant and blind to truths. They rely on the Bible to claim homosexuality is wrong but have little knowledge of Christian history and where the attitudes
stemmed from. John Boswells book Christianity, Social Tolerance & Homosexuality discusses these truths. The following paper offers a report of the book. Christianity, Social Tolerance & Homosexuality
People today generally assume that homosexuality has always been considered wrong in the eyes of Christianity and God. However, according to Boswell, and his intensive
research in history on the subject, homosexuality was essentially no worse than having sex before marriage or marrying a woman who could not have children. In essence, homosexuality was not
simply tolerated in the past, in Christian circles, but accepted as part of society. Boswell notes that there was a shift in
society, actually many shifts, that led to the current attitudes held by Christians today. For example, there was a time when people started to separate themselves from the past, from
the history of Rome and as such they began to socially see everything in history as wrong. The author also notes how "Between the beginning of the Christian Era and
