claim that casino gambling is the best place to have fun, others see it as potential danger to individuals, to neighborhoods and as a hotbed of crime." Indeed, casino gambling
attracts unscrupulous people and has notoriously been associated with organized crime. There is no reason for casino gambling to be legal in a nation that does not support other recreational
but dangerous practices like prostitution and recreational drug use. Like other vices, gambling is dangerous to families that include a gambling addict. For a number of reasons, casino gambling should
not be legal. Although a good number of people pack buses to Atlantic City every day, or fly to Las Vegas for the weekend, not everyone enjoys gambling. Those
who practice mainstream religions often oppose gambling, despite the fact that they use gambling fairs to raise money for their houses of worship. The problem as oppositionists see it is
that gambling can be addicting and it does not promote family life. There is no redeeming value for the practice. It is simply a money making venture that serves
to create a larger divide between social classes. Alexander and Roberts note that the "gambler is actually involved in the process of escape" (13). Elster contends that gambling
addiction comes about slowly and the first step is that someone finds himself in a certain environment (Alexander and Roberts 13). Unlike alcoholism for instance, where the society drinks socially
