The story that addressed the goings-on of an underhanded defense contractor earned Miller the award for play of the year. Then in 1949, the playwright hit gold when he penned Death of a Salesman, which ultimately won him the Pulitzer Prize. This "immense success" (Arthur Miller) was single-handedly instrumental in establishing Miller as one of the most well received and respected writers. It is here the student will go into greater detail about Millers honors and awards. Millers private life became very public when he married actress Marilyn Monroe. The seemingly mismatched pair did not remain in wedded bliss for long: they were married in 1956 and divorced in 1961.
