It is also the trade name of a variety of insurance companies (Anthem, 2010). Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield writes that it is dedicated to improving the health of its members (Anthem, 2009). This company offers health insurance for individuals, families, and corporations. Anthem offers insurance for health, dental, vision, and life (Anthem, 2010). Health Net, Inc. is one of the largest health care companies publicly traded. It identifies its mission as helping "people be healthy, secure and comfortable" (Health Net, Inc., 2010). It has major contracts with the government and with the Veterans Organization in its TRICARE health insurance programs. The company as a whole, including its subsidiaries, provides health care to more than six million people through individual and group policies and also to Medicare and Medicaid patients. Its behavioral health subsidiary, MHN, provides services to another 5.5 million people (Health Net, Profile, 2010). Health Net has a number of subsidiaries that offer different kinds of managed health care.
