Essentially, humanist theory maintains that everyone has the potential to be a great person - loving, contributing, etc. (Humanist Theory, 2002). However, the
persons "pyramid of needs" must be met before this person is able to fully contribute to society and be the best person they can be (Humanist Theory, 2002). This
theory is based on the work of Maslow and Rogers (Humanist Theory, 2002). In terms of the needs which must be fulfilled in order to become a fully able person,
Maslow says that the most basic are food and shelter (Humanist Theory, 2002). After that, the next need for humans is to feel safe and seek love and acceptance
