to the days following World War II where there is no freedom of speech and people live in a police state where democracy was a memory. However in the US
today, following the events of 9/11 there are new fear that freedom is being limited and democracy is being undermined with controls that are argued as required to defeat the
threat of terrorism, but many argue that the real goal is to increase government control and decrease liberty. The book America 2014
is taking this view a stage further, but is also more if an open criticism of current policies and approaches with the president of America being George Blush. It is
also argue that this is a book that takes the ideas of Fahrenheit 9/11 further. The parallels with 1984 are also very obvious, not only in content, but within the
pseudonym that is used by the author; Dawn Blair after Eric Blair. The book looks forward only ten years from the time
it is written, and like the book of 1984 shows a work where freedom is lost, liberty has been the price that has been solicited by the government in return
for security. The US has seen a fear that associated with Islam, it has suited the government to allow the association of terrorism with Islam creating a justification for the
increased control. People who are afraid of an external enemy will accept a greater level of measures to be used by the government. One of the indication of this
