solutions, optical drives and networking devices" (Company overview). It has offices, engineering locations and subsidiaries all over the world, and has been in "Business Weeks InfoTech 100 since 1998" (Company
overview). In addition, the company is the "4th largest maker of notebooks worldwide" and its W5A was chosen to receive the "the prestigious 2006 CES Innovations Design and Engineering Award,"
one of only two notebooks in the world so honored (Allen, 2005). This award highlights "product advancements in engineering and design" and is held by the "Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)
and endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA)" (Allen, 2005). ASUS won "over a thousand awards in 2005" (Allen, 2005). How can a company thats already apparently an
industry leader improve its financial position? That is a very tough question since it seems theyre already doing everything right. It would be helpful if we could see an annual
report, but the company is privately held and all we can find is selected financial information that they choose to make public. Sales figures from 2003 through 2006 show stead,
even impressive, increases in sales; annual reports are more helpful because they contain statements from company officers, and they often make statements that enable us to get more information than
is provided by a few figures. That isnt available here. So what we have is an industry leader thats been steadily growing more profitable. We want to make it even
more profitable. How? Perhaps we can find an answer in its new product, the W5A. The company believes that it comprises a "unique package of appealing style and rich features"
