If we consider the different levels at which these influences are felt, local, national, and globel, there are many ways that they impact both positively and negatively oh the airline industry. In looking at local influences the UK can be considered. Political influences may be felt by the airline industry as a result of local bylaws which they will have to comply with. These may be different in different areas and include elements such as the times that take offs and landings are allowed. The local economic factors may also be an influence on the airline industry. Areas such as Luton, where there have been many redundancies in recent years are keen to see their airport expand, with the way that labour is available in terms of the economic needs. However, where an area is near or within economically stable or thriving areas they are also likely to attract more customers wanting to fly from the local destinations. Airports such as those around London are in high demand, however, more regional airports have responded to the lower cost of holidays and the increased disposable income of families in areas where there is low unemployment. Social influences are also relevant. Airports such as Stansted have found that the expansion plans that have been outlined and proposed have been socially unacceptable, this has created tensions between the airline industry and the local community with high levels of protests resulting in negative publicity in the media. Technology is an interesting influence, however, locally there is little impact. However, it can be seen that technology is used in different concentrations in different areas.
