as it relates to fabric. The following paper examines the fashion industry as it pertains to textiles. The paper examines the different types of fabrics that are used in the
industry, where many of the fabrics come from and why they are chosen. Textiles in the Fashion Industry: Fabrics The fabrics chosen for the fashion industry are likely
fabrics that are always changing to some extent. For the most part one can well see that the fabrics are cotton, polyester, nylon, silk, and even newer eco-friendly fabrics, even
fabrics that possess bamboo, a renewable source. In looking at the fabrics being used today by top designers one can perhaps get an idea from a recent runway show. One
author, or fashion fan, states the following regarding leather: "As seen at YSL, Max Mara, Bottega Veneta, Alberta Ferretti, Michael Kors, Prada and DKNY among others. Leather is classic and
when its done right it can look amazingly polished" (Sydney Loves Fashion, 2009). This particular author also makes note that several designers, such as Fendi and Carolina Herrera, are
using velvet. Lace fabric is also a modern choice and is seen in some of the works of Louis Vuitton. In addition there is "Herringbone & Tweed- As seen at
