But, the truth is that the two cultures heavily influenced one another and their legacy is felt in all aspects of the Western world. In fact, without the ancient Roman and Greek cultures it is likely that our Western societies today would be so different that they would be unrecognizable. With that in mind the following paper first compares and contrasts the two cultures and then discusses how the Graeco-Roman culture has influenced the Western world and is still felt today. The paper finishes with a tutorial analysis of the information. Roman and Greek Cultures First of all one must understand that the two cultures involved many different elements, as is the case with any culture or society. For example, there are elements of gender, politics, art, architecture, music, religion, agriculture, history and tradition, and many other elements. As such this section will limit itself to only a few elements as there is not enough space to truly analyze and examine both cultures in their complexity. The first examination involves the art of the two cultures. "Both cultures had exquisite pieces of art, but they were very different from each other...There are also a number of similarities that are evident with these two cultures as well" (Greek and Roman Art). This author argues that the art of the two cultures can often "be traced back to the differences that existed between the two cultures" (Greek and Roman Art). For the most part, however, their focus on religious icons, the physical body, and their use of materials were generally very similar.
