Other theorists have used the allegory as a springboard for discussion. The cave allegory is noted in Erasmuss (1993) work as he writes about Folly: " What difference is there, do you think, between those in Platos cave who can only marvel at the shadows and images of various objects, provided they are content and dont know what they miss, and the philosopher who has emerged from the cave and sees the real things? If Mycillus in Lucian had been allowed to go on dreaming that golden dream of riches for evermore, hed have had no reason to desire any other state of happiness.
