Marketplaces around the world are becoming more competitive, which means that it is increasingly vital for organizations to establish some kind of competitive advantage through quality leadership. However, there are
many competing viewpoints on what qualifies as quality leadership. Recent trends in nursing have seen that industry plagued with turnovers; these not only cost the organization resources in acquiring and
training new employees, but it undermines the morale and commitment of the employees who do remain on the job. The adoption of transformational leadership strategies has been shown to facilitate
employee commitment through direct personal engagement with leaders and the development of leader-like qualities (the transformative process in question) (Avolio, Zhu, Koh, & Bhatia, 2004). However, in order for such
a leaderships trategy to be effectively used in any organizational context, it is necessary for executive and managerial leadership to work together to foster the decentralization of authority and instilling
of autonomous values that will drive employee growth, and in turn increase morale and commitment (Leach, 2005). However, the utility of transformative leadership outside of nursing is questionable. At a
basic level, this utility can be established by developing a survey to probe respondent experiences with personal engagement with leadership at their jobs, and the impact it had upon commitment
