Culture characterizes a critical component of how political anthropology helps to explain the elements of society and power, inasmuch as various cultural communities approach their political stratification in just as many different ways, serving to create common denominators of what comprises the notion of society while at the same time establishing a hierarchy of power that is typically dependent upon social status. Global communities like Indias community culture value peace and respect, which is in direct opposition to those societies found in such locations as Iraq where ethnic violence resides at the core of community existence. The extent to which this separation in perspective leads to inherently different levels of power within these respective societies is both grand and far-reaching; that cultural communities with an unnatural presence of coercion and tyranny serve as the most powerful over common citizens speaks to the heavy-handedness routinely associated with power and corruption amidst the political backdrop. Freedom, domination, resistance and religion - all foundations of the fundamentalist approach to contemporary social politics - play a unique role in the manner by which political anthropology helps to explain the connection to society and power as it relates to the divergent representations these two elements have throughout the world. Inasmuch as the typical global community is fundamentally based upon performance and profit, it is not difficult to understand how many contemporary societies still reflect incredible amounts of poverty, disease and homelessness despite the fact that their resources are fully capable of feeding, clothing, housing, educating and medicinally caring for their suffering masses.
