This paper considers the situation of an NCO who was ticketed for not wearing a seat belt, how this violated his position and what actions he will take to rectify this error. Discussion The military has no counterpart. Even "paramilitary" organizations like police and fire departments are not organized and expected to perform to military specifications. And although all organizations, even civilian companies, have a chain of command" with people knowing where they fit into the overall structure, nowhere else it is as formal, and as rigorously enforced, as in the military. For one thing, military personnel are sworn to obey the lawful orders of those appointed over them, be they commissioned officers, warrant officers, staff NCOs or NCOs of lower ranks. At times, those orders will send a person into harms way and even to their death. There can be no doubt in anyones mind that the person giving such orders understands the gravity of doing so, and that goes back to being an NCO who obeys orders himself, and understands the responsibility that comes with his rank.
