Introduction Poland is now a full member of the EU, as part of that membership there is the gradual lifting of barrier to free trade and free movement of labour within the EU. Due to the location of the country in Eastern Europe. In 2005 there were 11,501,242 passengers travelling through Polish airports, 65,867 metric tons of cargoes move and 204,060 aircraft movements, the latter was an increase of 13% on 2004 (Poland Civil Aviation Authority, 2006). The busiest airport is Warsaw with 120,271 aircraft movements and 7,071,667 passengers, an increase of 11% and 26% respectively. The second busiest airport is Krakow with 21,951 aircraft movements and 1,564, 338 passengers, carried, showing a 54% and 98% increase on 2004 and making up the majority of the air traffic in Poland (Poland Civil Aviation Authority, 2006). This indicates the increased demand in the area, which is projected at increasing due to the benefit. One area already has an airport, but one that is under utilised, Lodz has internal flights and in 2005 only had 1,456 aircraft movements, however another international airport in the region would helpo build the air traffic and also revile some of the stresses seen at Warsaw.
