essentially gathering together in a very simple manner. It is a relatively simple play, if one is to just view it from the perspective of plot and events, and really
is a play that seems to go nowhere. However, it is not through the plot or the characters that one gains the deeper insight into this story, but rather through
the images that lay under the words of the characters that the viewer or reader gains powerful insight into the theme of the story. The following paper examines this play,
through an analysis of one quote involving images. Body Indian The title of this play indicates that there is a sense the people in the play are all
a part of one person, one body, one entity that is the Native American. The story essentially revolves around many family members and friends as they set out to find
money to purchase more wine. It is not a depressing play in relationship to the characters, but it is a depressing play in terms of the reality of the story
as these individuals seem lost and only intent on getting more wine. There is one character, Bobby, who is clearly in a bad way from alcohol and the family
and friends understand that he has to have more alcohol so that he does not go through painful withdrawals and mental problems. In this the family and friends are concerned
about him, and this makes the need to get wine perhaps even more depressing as the unconscious Bobby is searched for money. The people even mess with his artificial leg,
knowing he has money stashed in the leg. These images and realities are all very powerful supports to the theme of the play as it involves the desperate state
