Some creative people get their ideas from their dreams and scary dreams seem to be quite popular in the world of film. Still, there are other things that dreams seem to relay, such as pent up anger or fear. Dreams have been analyzed to death by psychologists as well as by people involved in the occult who see dreaming as a portal to other worlds. It is for a variety of reasons that dreams, and what people dream about is interesting. People have odd dreams, or have lucid dreams when they know that they are dreaming, or continue to revisit the same place over and over again. What can such dreams mean? Dreaming is a human curiosity, but it is also something that is seen as valid in terms of analysis when one undergoes psychotherapy. In delving into the subject, one can expect to find information about ones inner psyche, and possible explanations for feelings or behaviors. Cavallero & Foulkes have attempted to demonstrate the relevance of cognitive psychology to the scientific study of dreaming (Blagrove 345). They explain that dreams utilize the same systems of mental representation and processing as is used in waking life (345). Looking at dreams in the laboratory setting has shown evidence of this (345). Dreams do tend to be organized narratives, and include plausible and realistic subject matter, as opposed to the bizarre (345).
