a computer with an Internet connection isnt going to go very far in this day and age. Along with technology comes information
via e-mail and instant messages, voice mail, research, newsletters and so on (Morgenstern, 2004). This is all part of technology - yet technology may not help an organization because of
employee resistance to change. Even in Internet-savvy organizations, such as Amazon, there could be resistance to any type of technological change,
which would cause this company to move from its present state to a desired future. The question we would ask here, then, is how does Amazon, the bookseller that is
a direct result of huge technology changes, manage organizational change created by technology? For one thing, management needs to understand is, just
because Amazon is the purest example of a virtual storefront, not all the employees are going to stand for change without explanation. Humans, but nature, tend to be resistant to
change, because change takes effort. It forces them from their comfort zones, forces them to re-adapt and to take on new things.
For example, if Amazons management decides that installation of a new software system to help customer service representatives better interact with customers is the way to go, this is
