Its difficult not to be attracted to tiny, bald babies with sweet faces, or cherubic toddlers as they attempt to take their first steps into the world. There is an appeal that small children have that is difficult to explain, but that impacts people of all ages and all walks of life. Yet not all infants and toddlers are enchanting - mostly because they may not be given the opportunity to be. Young children who are raised in poverty-stricken homes are subject to a great many obstacles that can interfere with their development not only as children, but as adults as well. A general rundown of statistics demonstrate that the majority of crime takes place among poor families in inner-city neighborhoods. Much of this crime takes place at the hands of children, who literally believe that there is no way out of the mess that their lives have become. Their way of dealing with this issue is to strike out - and they dont care who or what is in the way while this is happening One way in which problems can be circumvented among poor youth is to intervene at an earlier level - when that youth is an infant or toddler. It has been thought by many experts that if programs can be established to pinpoint potential behavior and emotional problems among very young children, that those problems could likely be addressed and hopefully corrected. While the child likely wont have a perfect upbringing, at least behavioral problems or emotional difficulties wont bring additional problems into the life of a poverty stricken child.
