apply it to other towns and cities throughout the nation. In embarking on this topic, one may wonder how a place like Sweetwater Florida may also create a project
somewhat like the Dudley Street initiative. Sweetwater is a crime ridden neighborhood. Homes.com demographics supply crime categories from A through D. In all categories, Sweetwater scores the worst possible score
of D, with the exception of forcible robbery which is only C ("Homes.com," 2002, p.PG). For most zip codes within Sweetwater, median income is between the $30,000 and $60,000 (2002,
p.PG) mark, which is really not bad. Certainly, it is not an impoverished community. Homes however are valued at less than $100,000 (2002, p.PG), which is quite low, particularly in
the current real estate market. Thus, one can surmise that it is not a desirable neighborhood. Another characteristic of Sweetwater is that it is considered to be the heart of
the Nicaraguan exile community (Garvin, 1993). It appears that in Sweetwater, there is vacant land that could be developed. Looking to DSNI (Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative) as a role
