Flynt? Are we to believe that the "worst" has brought new meaning to the "First?" "People v. Larry Flint" This 1997 movie directed by Milos Forman, produced by Oliver
Stone, and starring Woody Harrelson, Courtney Love and Edward Norton, tells the tale of Larry Flynt, professional person of bad taste, vulgarity, and the human right to talk about it.
Although a portion of Flynts personal red-neck history and private life is covered, the crux of the film concerns a precedent first amendment rights case -the "right to free speech,"
which makes it applicable, or a good resource,for any media law class. The case, that reads more like a wild and wacky story, an case law, centers
around the Supreme Court Case of Jerry Falwell v. Larry Flynt. A few months prior to Hustlers magazine interpretation of the print ad, Campari Liqueur had been running an
ad about celebrities "first time" tasting of their liqueur. The ads were written in such a way to use the phrase "first time" as a sexual innuendo, as well
as a tasting session. They were worded carefully, and let the reader put most of the message behind the words. Hustler listed the ad in the Table of Contents
