There is an interrelationship of Social Imaginary, modern technology, and literature in Latin American literature. Social Imaginary is the focal point of medication between social relations and messages. The three fields that influence and are influenced by Social Imaginary, are Western science, modern technology, and fictional literature (Hoeg p. 95). Literature not only reflects the discourse of technology, it also have the power to change the social milieu. There is an influence of literature in transforming the Social Imaginary and therefore the discourses mediated by it (Hoeg p. 95). The Social Symbolic generates messages that may mean different things in different contexts. They are always symbolic of cooperative and sustainable long0term relations between system and environment (Hoeg p. 95). The work of Columbias Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Chiles Isabel Allende, and Brazils Jorge Amado is the primary influence of the Latin American literature movement. The ideas insights and images created and represented by these three influential authors play a crucial role (Hoeg p. 95).
