to fathom how such enormous structures were built. In fact, there have been numerous discussions and arguments over the building of the pyramids. Some theorize that aliens either
built the pyramids or assisted in their construction. Others theorize the number of persons it took, how much the stones weighed, and the possibilities of how it could have
been done. It is apparent that mathematics was used in the building of the ancient pyramids of Egypt. One only has to look at the size, the dimensions,
and the structure of the pyramids to understand this concept. According to Mark Millmore (1999), the persons that build the pyramids, the
ancient Egyptians practiced the scientific arts. They were probably the first civilization to do so. The term chemistry is derived from the term Alchemy. The ancient name
for Egypt is Alchemy. The fields of applied mathematics and medicine are ones in which the ancient Egyptians were very superior. Millmore (1999) said, "But although there is
a large body of papyrus literature describing their achievements in medicine, there are no records of how they reached their mathematical conclusions. Of course they must have had an
advanced understanding of the subject because their exploits in engineering, astronomy and administration would not have been possible without it" (Millmore, 1999, PG). The ancient
