However the idea of artificial intelligence has roots that date back to the early days of mankind(Hayes 1998) .In the 13th century the process of computation got its start and that is the combining of numbers and symbols to get a new number(Hayes 1998) . "Ramon Lull, 1232-1316, drew many of his thoughts from an analytic tradition in logic and combinatorics. Logic as a theory of reason appeared in the 4th century BC in Aristotles Prior Analytics as the theory of syllogism. and combinatorics appear in the writings of Porphyry in the 3rd century BC(Hayes 1998) . " Many of the ideas that are in artificial intelligence actually have an ancient heritage(Hayes 1998) . The computational process of computation is actually the same sequencing that is used in artificial intelligence(Hayes 1998) . Artificial intelligence is steeped and founded in the process of logic and the process of logic dates back to the fourth century in Aristotles Prior Analytics as the theory of the syllogism(Hayes 1998) . II. FAST FORWARD TO MODERN DAY Artificial intelligence got its first official recognition at a conference of educators about 30 years ago. Included in the conference were doctors , engineers, and mathematicians. The conference took place in 1956 at Dartmouth College(Shipley 64). From that point forward the concept of artificial intelligence has been hotly debated with those who believe it exists and those who dont(Shipley 64).
