Excerpt From An APA-Style Psychology
Research Paper On The Implications
Of Childhood Sex Abuse For Adolescents...
INTRODUCTION
indThe apparent increase in incidence
of childhood sexual abuse has led to the
exploration of the behavioral implications
of this issue. It has been recognized that
exposure to sexual abuse during childhood
is not uncommon, and that there are family
characteristics that predicate its prevalence
(Fergusson et al, 1996). It has also been
noted that childhood sexual abuse increases
the risk of psychiatric disorders and that the
intensity and complexity of these disorders
can be related to the number of incidents the
amount of time abusive behavior continues
(Fergusson et
al, 1996).
